Missions Update and How to Get Involved Now
- Volunteer at the day-center, provide a meal, host guests, drive the van, or tutor chidren with Interfaith Hospitality Network of Athens. Contact Greg Bickley or Reeves Carter. Our upcoming IHNA host weeks for 2008 are:
- June 8-15
- August 31-September 7
- November 30-December 7
- Explore local volunteer opportunities at Hands On Northeast Georgia.
- Volunteer to work at the Athens Emergency Food Bank or Our Daily Bread. Contact the church office.
- Bring in food for the Athens Emergency Food Bank. There is a box of the Food Bank in the Missions Room. Right now they especially need spagheti and spaghetti sauce.
- Recycle your used Christmas cards. The Council on Aging needs the fronts from used christmas cards. Bring in the whole card or just the front and put it in the box in the missions room labeled "greeting cards".
- Volunteer as a teacher or childcare worker on Thursdays with International Friends. Contact Joyce Gravely
- Teach a Sunday School Class at Denney Towers. Contact Carl Monk.
- Help keep the Denney Towers pantry filled with canned food, soap and detergent. There is a "Denney Towers Pantry" box in the missions room. For a detailed list of needs click here.
- Contribute to The Global Missions Offering for Cooperative Baptist Fellowship This helps missionaries all over the world. Our goal is $13,000 before it ends May 31, 2008.
