Abiding Faith

We are a traditional Baptist Church.  We believe that God is three in one– Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; that salvation comes by grace through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; that each person is free to interpret the Bible for himself or herself with the help of the Holy Spirit; that our seminaries should encourage free inquiry by students and faculty.  We believe that men and women have equal status before God and can hold any office in the church.

We observe two ordinances, baptism and communion.  We baptize by immersion, but freely accept Christians from other denominations who have been baptized in other ways.  We observe open communion.  We believe that authority in the church rests with the church membership in conference and separation of church and state should be maintained. 

We are a Bible-oriented church.  We believe that God inspired the writers of the Bible to tell of their experiences with Him and to share their beliefs about Him in their words.  God’s Holy Spirit is available to help Christians understand the scriptures.  We worship the risen Christ as revealed through the scriptures and not the scripture themselves.
